Vegan diet=___ detox symptoms?

detox symptoms
The Misses asked:

I was a veggie for 7 yrs. then sadly gave it up for 1 yr. Now I am going vegan (for the long haul–I finally “get it” and am better educated about nutrition now). I am really tired, have excess phlegm, and my stomach is upset. Are these related symptoms?

What symptoms did you have when you went vegan?

Sensitvities

Yes, those are detox symptoms. You may also be experiencing some skin flare ups.

Avoid all processed foods and increase the amount of fiber you’re consuming. Eating lots (at least 2 cups) of raw fibrous vegetables (carrots, celery, cauliflower) will cleanse your system quickly, and you’ll be feeling great in a couple of days!

It is not uncommon whilst on a health kick to go through detoxification. In fact when I first started to really go healthy with the filtered water, organic foods, less refined sugars etc, I never felt so horrid in all my life. But eventually I got through it and never felt better.

In the least you need antioxidants. You mostly can get what you need via foods such as C from fresh citrus fruits, E from green leafy vegetables, Zinc from pumpkin seeds, Vitamin A from carrots and sweet potatoes, etc. You could take a multiple antioxidant if you are really worried. Just go to your local health food store or vitamin shop.

Have faith you’ll feel better soon : )
