detox symptoms
Holly asked:

I have recently switched from a vegetarian diet to a vegan diet. I’ve read online that detox symptoms vary from person to person, and that usually people that were vegetarian before the switch had less symptoms. I woke up this morning with a sore throat, ear aches, and three pimples [I usually don’t have any]. I will keep going with the diet no matter what, but I’m just wondering what kind of detox people went through when going vegan!

Thanks for your time!
Well, I got over the ‘cold’ in a matter of 1 day, so I imagine that it had something to do with the diet. I’m asking for any people that have experienced a detox when going vegan, not help! I’m merely curious as to what other people have experienced. But thanks for the answers so far!

You probably have a throat infection ๐Ÿ™‚ That will cause a sore throat and earache. It would be best to get that checked out.

The pimples might be related to your recent diet shift though.

When I went vegan I lost all my spare weight and gained a lot of energy. My asthma cleared up ( I had been told all along to avoid dairy because of it). I started working out a TON to get rid of the excess energy.

you’re detoxing so quickly that your body can’t keep up with the elimination hence the pimples. The sore throat and ear aches should go away though.
In addition you can slow down the detox a little by eating some raw plant fat: avocadoes or young thai coconut.

there is no detox! lolol
its not a drug.

you may be hungry more at first, which i had and other people have mentioned having b/c your body is used to saturated fats and heavy foods. but then after a week or 2 you are fine.

perhaps by making the switch you are eating something that you usually don’t eat.. which can cause the pimples maybe because you are allergic?

but the ear aches and sore throat sound like a cold. make sure you are eating foods for your immune system/getting proper nutrients, it isn’t that hard typically

and if you want, after a couple weeks get a blood test to check for protein, iron, b12, calcium, zinc, + vitamin c and e if you want. puts you at ease a little bit b/c you probably will be fine w/ all the nutrients.
